Breakfast is an important meal, in fact some research claims that it is the most important meal of the day. I love breakfast, but I know that some people are not a fan (and I find those people crazy! haha). Today I am going to show you how breakfast can be key in getting a jump start on meeting your daily nutrient requirements with my Power Packed Breakfast Oatmeal!
1/2 Cup Oatmeal: Oatmeal is a whole grain. This serving provides you with a good source of soluble fiber, that may help reduce the risk of heart disease
1 1/2 Cups Water: Water in cereal helps to meet our daily fluid requirements.
1 tsp Chia Seeds: Provides you with fiber, protein, and omega-3’s. Research shows that omega-3s can improve heart health and lower triglycerides.
1 tbsp Vanilla Protein Powder: Protein helps to build lean muscle mass and restore essential amino acids.
1 tbsp Raw Sliced Almonds: Again a great source of protein and dietary fiber
1 tbsp Dried Cranberries: Contains antioxidants that help protect against free radicals (*free radicals=unstable molecules that can cause damage to cells)
1 tbsp Dark Chocolate Chips: Another source of antioxidants
Dash of Cinnamon: May help lower blood sugar and cholesterol.
Mix the oatmeal and water in a microwaveable safe bowl.
Microwave on high for 2 minutes.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Eat and enjoy!
